Directions and Travel

Getting to Dragon Valley is easy – it really is.

For sat-nav users the nearest postcode to the West Gate is NP26 5NY - but that is for Llanvair Road which is not where the entrance is! The turning you want is signposted for "Caerwent Training Area - West Gate" and is immediately before Llanvair Road if you are coming from the Newport side, or immediately after if you are coming from the Chepstow side.

Alternatively, if your sat-nav will take lat/long co-ordinates the entrance to the site is at 51.614658, -2.772441 .

You can find a map showing the exact location at this link. if you want to navigate using Google Maps.

Please note that arrival time is no later than 08:55 at the Gate. If you are late then the start of play is held up for all players. Please make every effort to arrive on time.

From the East (England):

You want to come into Wales on the M48, over the older of the two Severn bridges. There is no longer a toll for crossing the bridge in either direction, If you are coming from further North, then come into Wales on the M50 and take the A449 from Monmouth down to J24 of the M4, then follow the instructions below for reaching the site from the West.

This map shows the village of Caerwent and the surrounding area.

As soon as you come off the bridge, take Junction 2 and turn right onto the A466 to Chepstow.

When you reach another roundabout turn left towards Caerwent on the A48. Stay on the A48. After about 3 or 4 miles (approx) you'll pass under a rail bridge at the bottom of a hill and should see a red-on-white MoD sign on the left side of the road for Caerwent Training Area East Gate - ignore it, wrong gate. Carry on through a stretch of dual carriageway and be aware of the speed camera at the other end. Ignore the sign for Caerwent Training Area Main Gate and carry on through the 30mph section. At the same point the speed limit increases back to 50 you will see a sign announcing Caerwent Training Area West Gate - that's the one you want.     Turn right and then you  will find the holding area immediately on the left where DV marshals will be waiting to direct you.

Please observe the speed limits displayed on the signs within the base.

We shuttle people from the gates to the site at 9:00am – please do not miss this ‘window’ as otherwise you may not get in – this is a fully operational site!

If you are late, lost or not able to attend PLEASE PHONE US on 07921 336360.

From the West (Wales):

We are situated off junction 24 of the M4, the junction with the A449 from Monmouth and the A48.

Once you are off the motorway (assuming you were on it in the first place!), take the 2nd roundabout exit so that you are on the A48, heading towards Llanbeder and Langstone (there's a MacDonalds just off this island if breakfast is a consideration). The road itself is called Chepstow Road, quite appropriately as that's where it goes.

Travel along the A48 heading north west and looking for signs to Caerwent. It will be around 7.5 miles. Watch out for the speed camera!

Ignore the turnoff marked Caerwent itself, and look for the red on white Caerwent Training Area West gate sign.

Take that left, and then you will find the holding area immediately on the left where DV marshals will be waiting to direct you.

Please observe the speed limits displayed on the signs within the base.
